Background

No Festival Required began with a sheet strung between two poles, a borrowed projector, a willing artspace and a hour's worth of short films gathered from great local and national directors.

From its original home at Modified Arts in downtown Phoenix, the No Festival Required multi-part "almost monthly" shorts series ran over 600 shorts in 50 screenings from June 2002 to December 2007, and expanded its venues across the Valley, with traveling shows in other like the Detroit Film Center. The current home base of NFR is Space 55 in downtown Phoenix

Feature-length documentaries, narratives, experimental and subversive packaged shorts shows are the now the main focus, with venues as varied as the Phoenix Art Museum, Mesa Arts Center and the Superstition Farms dairy!

See "Featured Screenings" for all current venues, join the mailing list to know about upcoming shows and support truly independent film by your attendance and participation!
